Radio Tonga Boosts Tongan Caregivers

A CalGROWS video aired by Radio Tonga since March has prompted over 25 Tongan women in California to reach out for help enrolling as a caregiver.

A CalGROWS video aired by Radio Tonga since March has prompted over 25 Tongan women in California to reach out for help enrolling as a caregiver.

The in-language video explains that CalGROWS, launched by the California Department of Aging launched CalGrows on June 5, 2023, is a program offering free training including online courses for home caregivers, paid workers, home caregivers, community-based caregivers and unpaid family and friends. 

Participants may get up to $6,000 to learn and use new caregiving skills, but must act soon as the program ends on August 30.
