Event Overview
The House last month proposed an $800 Billion slash to the Medicaid budget, the largest cut in the history of the program. The Senate is poised to consider a similar measure in April.
The proposed cuts would disproportionately impact Latino and Black families. More than 20 million Latinos, 13 million Black people, and 3.5 million Asian Americans rely on Medicaid. 31 million children are also covered by Medicaid, through the Children’s Health Insurance Program. In California, Medicaid is known as MediCal.
Speakers this week will discuss the proposed cuts and its impact on low-income working families, children and the elderly.
