‘Xi is a Dictator’ Biden Proclaims at End of Daylong Meet with China’s Premier

Following his daylong meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping in Woodside, California Nov. 15, President Joe Biden declared at a press conference that he would still characterize the premier as a dictator.

“He is a dictator in the sense that he is a guy who runs a country that is based on a form of government totally different than ours,” said Biden, responding to a reporter’s shout-out as the formal press conference ended.

Biden had first called Xi a dictator last June at a fundraiser.

Xi and Biden held their meeting  — the first in six years — on the sidelines of the weeklong Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, which began Nov. 11.
