All original print content published by American Community Media is available to republish for free under a Creative Commons license — meaning non-commercial use only, with no substantive changes to the text.
When republishing, you must:
- Credit the author and ACoM, with a link back to the original story. Example: “This story was first published by American Community Media, a national nonprofit that reports on America’s diverse communities from the inside out.”
- Keep the article free to read. No paywalls, no sale, no inclusion in commercial anthologies or books, and no upload to off-platform publishers such as Apple News.
- Edit only for time, location, and editorial style — for example, updating a date reference or adjusting for house style. No other substantive changes.
- Notify us before or at the time of republishing by emailing coverage@americancommunitymedia.org.
- Tag us on social media (@americancommunitymedia) if you share the republished story there.
