"This convening was the highlight of the month—possibly the year. Thank you so much! We’ll definitely want to talk about next steps with you, as we start to develop ads."

On-Site Briefings

Over a decade-long partnership from 2015 to 2025, American Community Media organized more than 40 on-site media briefings for the Federal Trade Commission in cities nationwide, including Anchorage, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Cleveland, Miami, Atlanta, New York, and Boston. By connecting FTC officials with trusted community journalists, we helped expand public awareness of consumer fraud and scams among diverse and multilingual audiences. In recognition of the partnership's success, the FTC expanded our role in 2023 to include multicultural advertising and media buying.
"Once again, you delivered an incredibly rich set of participants for this event. I learned so much listening to what these reporters are seeing and hearing in their communities across the country. This kind of visibility is really hard to get but you manage to pull it off every time we ask."

Monica E. Vaca, FTC

Years of Census Work

Building on decades of Census outreach experience, American Community Media partnered with California's Complete Count Office for the 2020 Census to help ensure every community was counted. We led outreach to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), Middle Eastern and North African (MENA), and Native American communities by advising on multicultural media strategy, coordinating targeted advertising, organizing news briefings, and convening community engagement events that encouraged participation in historically undercounted populations.
"Ethnic media was the centerpiece of our media outreach and the connective tissue with our on-the-ground community-based outreach efforts. Without the trusted ethnic media sector we would not have been able to reach our hardest-to-count communities in a culturally sensitive manner."

To help increase vaccine confidence among California's most underserved communities, American Community Media partnered with advertising and public relations firms on the California Department of Public Health's statewide vaccination campaign, with a special focus on rural and historically underserved populations. Through our COVID Myth Buster initiative, we awarded fellowships to 85 community journalists who produced nearly 100 fact-based stories published in 60 multilingual news outlets, helping counter misinformation and deliver trusted public health information to hard-to-reach audiences.
"American Community Media played a pivotal role in Team RSE’s work on California’s COVID-19 Vaccinate ALL 58 campaign. Through culturally and linguistically tailored outreach, ACoM successfully reached millions across the state."

Decision-Makers & Leaders Brought to Sacramento

As the statewide coordinator of California's three-year Stop the Hate campaign, American Community Media united ethnic and community media, nonprofits, and public agencies around a shared mission to reduce hate and strengthen community resilience. We led collaborative reporting projects across multiracial and multiethnic news outlets on issues ranging from bullying in schools to LGBTQ+ inclusion, while partnering with NGOs and community-based organizations to expand the campaign's reach through trusted, culturally relevant messaging.
We also convened more than 200 policymakers, community leaders, and advocates in Sacramento to develop coordinated strategies for preventing hate and fostering stronger relationships across California's diverse communities.
