The multi-platinum rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers has taken a detour in its ongoing world tour for a stop in Hoopa, in far northern California, where the band with host a free concert for community members, according to the Two Rivers Tribune.

Hoopa is home to the Hoopa Valley Tribe, one of several Indigenous groups in the area. According to the Two Rivers Tribune, the band will perform for free at an area high school, with attendance restricted to community members only. A cultural exchange is planned following the concert.

Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony Kiedis is of Mohican ancestry. “We are very lucky to have a very high profile, multi-platinum rock band, whose lead singer also happens to be Native American, want to come and perform for our school and our community,” said the school’s principal announcing the surprise concert.
