官員與醫師合作提供一切可能的援助

目前，洛杉磯縣每200人就有1人感染新冠肺炎（COVID 19），縣府已動員提供一系列服務與資源，積極因應疫情相關需求。為了讓更多民眾知道洛杉磯縣提供的服務，縣府官員在12月3日第二場為少數族裔媒體舉辦的說明會中，呼籲每位居民對自己的健康採取預防措施，避免將病毒傳播給他人。
洛杉磯縣健康服務局（Department of Health Services）專精急診醫學的醫師佛羅雷斯烏里貝（Erika Flores-Uribe）表示，接受新冠檢測非常重要，縣內檢測站已經從疫情一開始的30個增加為180個，無論民眾是否有保險、是否有能力付費，或移民身份為何，都可以接受檢測。民眾可以撥打211熱線，查詢最近的檢測站地點和預約檢測時間。
馬丁路德金恩門診中心（Martin Luther King, Jr. Outpatient Center）主任醫師狄克森（Tasa Dixon）說：「這是一種沒有人能免疫的病毒，每個人都可能感染，並傳播給他人。請前來接受檢測，我們不會拒絕提供服務，也不會將您的資料提供給當局，我們是為了您的健康而存在。」
如果民眾家中有人可能已感染病毒，有傳播病毒給其他家人的風險，洛杉磯縣有隔離設施可供使用。若有需要這項服務安排，請致電(833) 540-0473。
洛縣議會臨時議長索利斯（Hilda L. Solis）說：「在歷史上，我們有時需要一個悲傷的時刻，讓全民團結起來。」總人口超過40萬的洛縣，目前新冠確診人數超過10萬零7000人。他說：「這是不可接受的事實。我們必須透過鼓勵社區利用所有醫療服務，找出壓平新冠疫情曲線的方法。」
索利斯指出，從人口統計數字來看，新冠肺炎患者以西語裔、非裔、原住民和亞裔居多，不過，現在感染新冠肺炎最多的族群是18歲到49歲的民眾。
索利斯說：「這正是我們現在為何要如此費力限制民眾外出，確保大家遵守保持社交距離、佩戴口罩、接受檢測等規定、使用本縣和其他醫療單位提供給社區的各項協助。我們現在正在與時間賽跑。」
她還說：「我們的確需要許多支援，包括金錢。因為我們是一個社區、一個大家庭，所以我們必須團結合作。」
索利斯辦公室宣布，洛縣已與51個社區福利組織合作，提供民眾食物、醫療、金錢、遊民住房等服務，這51個組織包括加州健康美甲沙龍聯合會（California Healthy Nail Salon Collaborative）、美西亞美尼亞救濟會（Armenian Relief Society of Western USA）、華埠服務中心（Chinatown Service Center）、洛杉磯性別公義（Gender Justice LA）、南加州菲律賓勞工中心（Pilipino Workers Center of Southern California）、普庫文化社區服務（Pukuu Cultural Community Services）、高棉女孩行動（Khmer Girls in Action）、城市掙扎（InnerCity Struggle）、原住民社區領導力（CIELO — Comunidades Indigenas en Liderazgo）等
公共社會服務廳廳長（Department of Public Social Services）希梅內茲（Antonia Jimenez）特別提到「加州生鮮」（CalFresh），這項服務提供居民購買食物和必需品的協助，無論他們是否有住處、汽車或工作，洛縣有三分之一居民使用這項援助計畫，70%的使用者在申請當天就獲得批准。
這項服務提供十種語言選擇，若有其他語言需要，可以安排翻譯者協助。周一至周五上午7時30分到晚上7時30分，周六上午8時到下午4時30分有工作人員接聽電話，也可上網getcalfresh.org申請服務。
除了「加州生鮮」，還有許多單位提供糧食援助，民眾可到洛杉磯地區糧食銀行（Los Angeles Regional Food Bank）網站https://www.lafoodbank.org/find-food/pantry-locator/和FoodFinder網站https://foodfinder.us/查詢詳細名單。
如果需要「女性和嬰幼兒營養援助」（nutritional assistance for women, infants and children，簡稱WIC），無論是否具有公民身份都可以申請，上訴法院12月2日剛宣布，禁止在移民申請中將WIC視為「公共負擔」（public charge）。
佛羅雷斯烏里貝說：「新冠疫苗已傳出令人振奮的好消息，但還未上市。因此，請繼續服用您正在使用的藥物，照顧好自己的健康，運用創意找到運動的方式，例如在家跟著音樂起舞，不要去健身房。」
狄克森醫師擔心人們不夠重視疫情，她強調，民眾可以輕鬆從藥房或醫療單位獲得免費流感疫苗注射和新冠病毒檢測。
佛羅雷斯烏里貝說：「這是我們的工作使命。」她支持狄克森的呼籲，不要把咳嗽當作是單純的過敏反應，最好去做檢查。
狄克森說：「我們現在在同一條船上，只要我們能盡到自己的責任，繼續多盡一份力量，我們就能回歸正常生活，最終一定能平安無事。」
