This story was produced as part of the Greening of LA ethnic media project, a collaboration between EMS and UCLA/LENS

Paul Chun

Paul Chun produced this fellowship story for Seoul Broadcasting System, the largest private broadcaster in South Korea. SBS International is the Los Angeles-based U.S. branch of Korea’s third-largest TV Network overall.

Near total lack of green space across LA’s Koreatown” explores health and quality of life issues among residents of Koreatown, one of the most densely populated urban areas in the country, as locals experience extreme scarcities of green space.

Speaking on his fellowship work, Chun — a reporter with SBS for 16 years — said “Green spaces, such as parks and trees are vital for me, and our Korean American community. Many of our community members reside or do business in LA Koreatown, which is one of the most green space deprived regions in LA county.  I have signed up for the UCLA LENS – EMS project, hoping it can bring more attention to the matter along with other green space issues in the LA area.”
