Event Overview

Diversity and representation in the entertainment industry matter tremendously, not just in terms of access to jobs and creative opportunities but in shaping how our stories are told and how diverse communities are seen.

Entertainment & Diversity

Studies show that representation has slowly advanced in film and television but that our share in most creative acting, writing, directing, and producing jobs is well below our population numbers or our value as an audience.

Despite recent examples like Blue Beetle (a Latino Superhero with an entire Latino cast, crew, and creator), shows like “Reservation Dogs” and “Rutherford Falls,” (Native-authored and centered) and smash hits like “Everything Everywhere All at Once” (AAPI) among others, are we seeing a structural change?

Leaders in the ethnic community have stopped waiting for others to open doors and have started working on projects that create opportunities and change.

Our panel of experts, leaders, and creatives of color will discuss these issues and more.
