In a highly-anticipated moment, Democratic Presidential nominee Kamala Harris Aug. 6 announced Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.

Walz is expected to strengthen the Democratic Party’s position in the Midwestern states.

“It is the honor of a lifetime to join Kamala Harris in this campaign. I’m all in,” tweeted Walz on X/Twitter.

Before his career in politics, he was a high-school teacher and high-school football coach. In his post, he likened joining the Democratic ticket to that experience, saying, “It reminds me a bit of the first day of school!”

Walz urged the country to join him and Harris in the “politics of what’s possible,” adding: “So let’s get this done, folks! Join us.”
